IRB Intro #2
Revolutionary Summer, The Birth of American Independence: Joseph J. Ellis
The
book that I chose for this marking period’s IRB is Revolutionary Summer, written by Joseph J. Ellis. This book is a narrative and analysis
of the summer of 1776 in the war for American Independence. Joseph J, Ellis is a known historian
and writer of early American History who is also the Pulitzer Prize winning author of Founding brothers. Another one of his books, American Sphinx, won the National Book
Award. Ellis uses this book to
analyze the summer of 1776 and support his idea that this was the most crucial
point in the American Revolution.
With all the fighting and conflict in the Middle East and the riots in
Canada, Greece, Russia, Italy and France I thought it would be a good time to use
this marking period, and my upcoming TOW posts, to analyze the writers of these
revolutions.
